Devils  1  Prince of Wales  1

Thursday 5th January

Scorer: Dave Frampton

Devils kicked off 2012 with a share of the points as Dave Frampton scored in a 1-1 draw against Prince of Wales in the Championship.

Devils created plenty of scoring opportunities in the match but the woodwork three times and good goalkeeping combined to make it a frustrating night in front of goal.

First Sam Cohen and Alec Savigar struck the post from tight angles and later Mike Savigar hit the bar from a free-kick. However Devils made the breakthrough when Dave Frampton turned a defender and smashed home his fourth of the season midway through the second half.

Prince of Wales equalised with a goal scored at a corner but Devils pressed on and were controversially denied a winner when Alec's goal was chalked off for encroachment in the area despite the decision looking very marginal.

Devils currently sit 5th in the table after eleven matches played.

Devils  0  Man Chest Hair United  0

Thursday 10th November

Scorers:

Devils bid to return to winning ways was thwarted as Man Chest Hair United shared a goalless draw in the Championship.

Devils had two or three opportunities in the first half as Alec Savigar and Dave Frampton each tested the opposition keeper.

However in the second Devils came closer as Dave hit the inside of the post twice in a ten minute spell and Alec came close with three chances created from corners.

Similarly, Mike also had a scoring opportunity after being released by Dave's flick-on but his finish was lofted just over the bar.

Devils currently sit 6th in the table after five matches played.

Devils  0  SBA Elite  1

Thursday 27th October

Scorers:

Devils good start to the season took a dent with a 1-0 defeat to SBA Elite in the Championship.

These two sides have met many times in recent seasons but this was the first time in the Championship since Devils promotion to the top division in Summer 2007 and it was SBA who came out on top to boost their own bid for a return to the Premier after relegation last season.

Devils conceded the decisive goal in the opening minute as SBA scored with a shot which crept into the net from long range.

However Devils gained a lifeline four minutes later from the penalty spot but the SBA keeper made a fine save to deny Sam Cohen.

In a tight game of few chances the early goal proved the winner as Devils lost for the first time in Winter 2011.

Devils  1  Guinness Lightweights  0

Thursday 20th October

Scorers: Sam Cohen

Devils made it two wins out of two in the Championship as Sam Cohen's goal earned a 1-0 win over last season's runners-up Guinness Lightweights.

The two matches against Guinness last season saw just the one goal so Devils knew this would be another tight game against a side whose success last season was built on a strong defensive record. And true to form this encounter was another close match but for the first time in the three meetings Devils came out on top thanks to a good all round performance and Sam's well taken goal.

The first half was fairly quiet, Sam coming close for Devils with a shot just wide while Guinness efforts were restricted to long range attempts.

The second half continued to be tight but Devils were creating slightly more scoring opportunities and midway through the half Dave had two good efforts well saved by the keeper and a third attempt just past the post.

With eight minutes left Devils made the all important breakthrough. A long throw from Chris missed Dave but went to Sam who with the keeper to beat coolly slotted the ball past him to put Devils 1-0 up.

The game stayed close to the end with Chris making a few good stops and the two Mikes, Stu, Alec and Sam closing down players frequently to ensure Devils stayed in front and maintained the 100% winning start to the Winter season.

Devils 3  Tee Card Is Down  1

Thursday 13th October

Scorers: Alec Savigar, Dave Frampton, Stuart O'Leary

Devils kicked off the Winter in winning style as they defeated new team Tee Card Is Down in the season's opening Championship game.

Devils applied early pressure against the new boys with Sam and Alec getting shots away early doors to bring saves from the opposing keeper. Then midway through the half Sam picked the ball up and cut inside but instead of shooting he slid the ball into the path of Alec who clinically finished with a low side foot shot to give Devils their first goal of the new season.

After the goal Tee Card began to get into the game and after a spell of pressure a Devils player was adjudged inside the box and a penalty made it 1-1 at half-time.

Devils upped their game in the early stages of the second half with Dave close early on before Sam picked out a forward running Stu who showed quick feet to go round the defender and poke the ball into the net for 2-1 and Stu's 5th goal in 147 games in the Sixes for Devils.

It was all Devils now and with a few minutes to go Chris rolled the ball to Sam who hit a great long pass to the right hand touchline where Dave took a single touch and drove a powerful shot high into the net off two posts. With this third goal, also Sam's third assist Devils secured the three points to kick off the season with an encouraging 3-1 win.
